VCCDC is proud to announce that Gabriela Mello, Vice President of Wells Fargo’s Government and Community Relations Group, has joined its Advisory Board. The appointment of Ms. Mello further strengthens VCCDC’s distinguished advisory board which includes Michael McGuire, Executive Director at SPREADDS.com, Evelyn Aleman, President of Media Image Public Relations and Virginia Victorin, Vice President, Community Affairs Regional Manager of Bank of the West.
Ms. Mello represents Wells Fargo in all aspects of community outreach, identifying and referring business opportunities and maintaining the company’s CRA initiatives that support small business and underserved populations in Kern, Kings, Tulare, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties.
During the course of Ms. Mello’s career she has held various positions throughout her 22 year banking career with Citibank and Wells Fargo. Ms. Mello started as a bank teller at Wells Fargo and was quickly promoted to a branch manager of several Central California branches and now leads Wells Fargo’s government and community development efforts for the region. In 2007, she was given the Women of the Year award from the Tulare Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for her leadership and commitment to the underserved and small business community. Ms. Mello also received many Congressional Recognitions and a Commendation from Assemblywoman for the 30th district Nicole M. Parra at the Latinas in Business Conference for her outstanding support to small businesses nonprofit agencies and community support in the San Joaquin Valley
Ms. Mello’s dedication to economic development has earned several recognitions from the California State Senate and Assembly. In 2009 and 2013, she received national recognition from the U.S. Small Business Administration when he was presented with the Financial Services Champion of the Year Award in both occasions. Ms. Mello serves on boards and advisory boards of several nonprofits in California and was appointed by Wells Fargo’s leadership team to represent the West region on Wells Fargo’s National Economic Opportunities Grant program
She attended Hartnell College in Salinas and California State University Fresno earning her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies. She resides in Bakersfield with her husband Joe and their three children Megan, Mariah and Nathan.
