VCCDC in partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank, the FDIC and the OCC hosted a special area Disaster Recovery Forum in response to the destruction and crisis caused by the Thomas Fire and Montecito Mudslides to families, small businesses, and communities in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Through this Forum, VCCDC was able to bring together over 75 representatives from local agencies ranging from Federal assistance agencies to local community based non-profits. The goal of the forum was to identify resources available for immediate and long-term financial need for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Small Business Administration (SBA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) were present to assist in identifying and pooling available resources in favor of assisting those affected directly and indirectly by the recent disasters. Through this and other efforts a total of $800,000 has been committed to our community for disaster recovery.
