VCCDC is pleased to announce that it has been recently awarded $1.5 million in CalHome funds by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for its first time homebuyer program. CalHome funds are offered on a competitive basis to government entities and non-profit housing organizations that provide affordable home financing and home repair programs to lower-income households in California. These funds will allow VCCDC to assist more than 45 families and/or individuals in Ventura and Santa Barbara that are at or less than 80% of the area median income (adjusted for household size) whose dream it is to become homeowners. The CalHome loan can be used for down payment, closing costs, or both and is secured by a third trust deed, has a term of 30 years, and bears a deferred interest rate of 3%.
