VCCDC PARTNERS WITH THE VIRTUAL COUNSELING NETWORK TO OFFER NO COST VIRTUAL SERVICES TO HOME BUYERS & HOMEOWNERS
This new network provides free “real time” access to homeownership services from the comfort of the client’s own home
Ventura County, CA – Ventura County Community Development Corporation (VCCDC) announced today their partnership with the Virtual Counseling Network (VCN). This online network uses a unique and innovative new technology developed by the Orange County Housing Opportunities Collaborative (OC HOC), to transform and expand access to professional housing counseling services.
Through this partnership, VCCDC aims to connect potential homebuyers and homeowners with VCCDC’s certified homeownership professionals who can provide information on homeownership counseling, financial counseling, foreclosure prevention programs, down payment assistance, first time homebuyer mortgages, and more. Clients will be able to hear, see, and interact with VCCDC’s Homeownership Specialists from the comfort of their own home (or wherever internet is available). “Through our partnership with the VCN we hope to reach out to those potential clients who might otherwise not be able to have access to our services due to lack of transportation, issues with mobility, time constraints or other reasons. We also aim to cater to those who are looking for a more convenient and effective way to meet with our team,” says Bertha Garcia, VCCDC’s Executive Director.
The VCN has been in use in San Diego, Oceanside, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties since March 2013 and in Orange County since July 2014, through a generous grant from Citi Community Development. VCCDC is proud to be the VCN’s first partner housing counseling agency in Ventura County. “We are excited to partner with VCCDC to bring access to these vitally needed services to potential homebuyers and homeowners in Ventura County,” said Connie Der Torossian, OC HOC Program Manager.

About the Orange County Housing Opportunities Collaborative (OC HOC)
Housing Opportunities Collaborative is a 501(c) (3) tax exempt HUD approved counseling intermediary, established in 2005 by a coalition of HUD approved housing counseling and fair housing agencies, other housing related nonprofit organizations, business organizations, and government agencies that support all aspects of housing rights and responsibilities. It was created to serve as an information clearinghouse by consolidating housing and related information, making it easily accessible to the public and partners. To improve the delivery of services to the community, the HOC developed the Virtual Counselor Network in 2013 to digitally connect social services agencies and partner organizations to the community using the power of technology. OC HOC is the Orange County branch of the HOC. OC HOC Nonprofit Partner organizations who have signed up to have Virtual Counselors on the VCN include: Affordable Housing Clearinghouse, Consumer Credit Counseling Service of OC, Fair Housing Foundation, NeighborWorks OC, Legal Aid Society of OC, Public Law Center, Shalom Center, Springboard Credit Counseling and SparkPointOC at Delhi and Abrazar.
