Celebrating Homeownership Month
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mark June as National Homeownership Month following President Biden’s proclamation issued on Tuesday. This year’s Homeownership Month celebrates the 20th year of this opportunity to amplify the benefits of homeownership and the work that remains to achieve fairness and equity in access to affordable homeownership for all Americans who seek it.
For the past 21 years VCCDC has worked to provide low and moderate income individuals and families the tools and resources needed to achieve and maintain homeownership. Since 2001 we have:
Empowered over 20,000 families through our education and financial coaching services
Assisted nearly 3,000 families with purchasing a home, becoming mortgage ready or staying in their home
Awarded more than $10 million in down payment assistance
Provided more than $188 million in first mortgage financing to low- and moderate-income families
Prevented over $106 million in foreclosures through home preservation
VCCDC has hosted its Homeownership Conference in June for the past 9 years in celebration of Homeownership Month and with a goal to provide education and resources for future homebuyers and existing homeowners. This year we are hosting our 10th annual conference, virtually, on Saturday, June 25th at 11am. Attendees can enjoy workshops on relevant topics for homebuyers and homeowners; network with industry experts; learn about programs offering more than $100,000 in down payment or closing costs assistance, and participate in fun games with opportunities to win up to $200 in gift cards. New for 2022 is our Virtual Loan Center which will provide interested homebuyers the opportunity to be pre-qualified on the day of event. Register for free at www.vccdc.org/hoc.
Happy National Homeownership Month!
